French and Flemish knights charging. I've chosen for the title "United under one banner" because they are fighting side by side during a crusade. In normal circumstances French and Flemish people didn't get along very well. They fought a lot of battle against each other but here they are united.
I've worked on this one for very long and I am pleased with the knights but the background I didn't spend much attention to and for that I apologize but for the rest I hope you like it.

This piece is gorgeous. I love the 13th C. and the Crusades. Are the devices on the shields representative of real family arms? My favorite thing about your concept, is that these men are not members of a monastic order, Templers, Teutonic, etc. They are Noblemen who left families back home, and followed the ONE BANNER.

Thank you glad you like the drawing. The shields of the Flemish only have the Flemish symbol: the lion. So there are no links to high nobleman or barons. The French on the other side are linked to characters I got out of a novel by Bernard Cornwell called "Azincourth". Very good book.

sorry for the very late reply :(

No problem with the reply. I'm running behind these days as well. :~}

I will check the author's work. I do love good Historical Fiction. The best work is based on real families that are not the Kings, or Queens of a nation.

I only read historical fiction books can't help it there so good :) Best historical writers (in my opinion) are: conn iggulden, bernard cornwell, simon scarrow, ben kane and anthony riches love them.

Bah, I don't really agree with you because Conn Igguldens books there are always famous persons who are the leading character like Caesar ore Djengis Khan and those books are good :) but in most of the books I read the main figures in the book are not kings or queens of a nation so you are kind of right :p

I think I really love characters with whom I can relate. I love stories about knights who fight under high profile commanders, and must struggle with some great personal losses for following the "wrong" leaders.

I also love stories of noblewomen who serve their queens, duchesses, etc. and how court scandles affect their choices, and other aspects of their lives.

Most of the books I read of famous (and infamous) rulers/generals are non-fiction, rather than biographical novels.

The books of Conn Iggulden are non fiction and therefore I think you should maybe try one :) Do you have a famous writer becasue I love to read historical fiction or non fiction :D
